The Luxury phone maker Vertu, which was recently acquired for £50 million has just launched a new phone. And yes, you guessed it right, this is yet another ‘luxury’ piece of equipment which you can own. It is called the ‘Signature Cobra’ limited edition phone and this is now the company’s flagship device for this year. Do make a note that it is not a smartphone by any means. It is just like most of the other Vertu handsets, but there are certain things that make this phone what it is.
Firstly, if you want to buy this phone, then it will be available on the online shopping website called Jingdong Mall. But you might want to be quick in getting your hands on this phone since it is going to be super limited. Only 8 units will be ever made, out of which, one will be sold in China. One of the most interesting aspects of the phone is that it is made by French Royal Jewelry brand Boucheron. Also, this particular handset is based on the original Vertu Signature.
And just like you would expect from a luxury brand like Vertu, this also comes with all the bells and whistles. It comes with gems which are precisely cut and these are created with a mosaic process. As the name suggests, it has a cobra made with 439 ruby stones. Also, they have used Emerald for the eyes of the Cobra. According to what we have been told, each handset is made up of 388 different parts and the entire device is assembled in the U.K by hand. Well, now that you know everything about this phone, let’s discuss the price.
In order to buy this phone, one has to leave a down payment of 1000 Yuan which is approximately about 10,000 INR. And then later, you have to pay a whopping 2.47 million Yuan which is approximately over 2 crore INR. And yes, for the money’s worth, you can get it delivered in style via a helicopter. After all, we are talking about Vertu here, so it has to be fancy right? So now that you know everything about this particular phone, we would like to know your thoughts on it? Would you be interested in spending such absurd amount of money on such a phone? Be sure to let us know by dropping a comment down below and also, stay tuned to PhoneRadar for more info like this.

12:19:00 AM Add Comment

In order to improve the relationship of Facebook with local publishers, the social media giant has started testing various products to connect users to local news. These tests are a part of Facebook Journalism Project, which has just started. The primary aim of this project is to help people discover and engage with news outlets in their communities.
The initial tests are being conducted on three products. The first product aims to community-link Facebook groups to the additional local news. Another product in the lineup offers users to make their city of residence public and a badge that identifies them as a local resident when they comment on a local publisher’s stories. The particular product will be launching on Tuesday. The third product aims to help people and local groups for connecting in a better way.

All these tests are also focusing on assisting people in discovering local news and meaningfully engage with their community. The team is working to establish baseline metrics to provide availability and discoverability of news and identify levers that help users in absorbing news, share and form community around local content.
These tests will also help administrators of groups which discuss the news on a regular basis to add local news units to the group. With this, the local news classifier will identify the news from a specific location and then provide links to the users that are relevant to them. Members will be able to share an article from the unit just as a link.
Local publisher posts will also display a badge that will identify the residents based on the public current city of the user. These badges will be allotted to all the users who meet the location requirements of a particular city or locality. With the help of badges, the engagement between the users will increase at a rapid pace. Once a user reads the article from a particular publisher in a particular group, Facebook will further promote the publisher to post more in the particular group to increase engagement.
A relevant local group is classified which has at least three local news publisher links which aware published within the last 28 days. Publishers are demanding new ways to connect with the local people of their community and these tests will probably come up with effective ways to share, connect and spread information within local communities.

Nothing Happens When You Get A Call From 777888999

12:15:00 AM Add Comment

While social networking platforms are powerful tools to enhance our lifestyle, they also at times prove harmful as they act as a medium to spread false and inaccurate information. As a result, tech giants like Facebook, Twitter, Wikipedia, etc., are designing algorithms to eliminate fake news on their platforms.
In one such example, a misleading spam message has been circulating on Whatsapp from the past few days. The message reads if anyone answers a call from a nine digit number 777888999, their phone automatically explodes. Moreover, it urges users to forward the message to others.
The message may sound credible initially as the phone number is a nine digit number instead of standard ten digit number. However, It is entirely false, and the possibility of such blast is zero.
I know most of you might not take it seriously, but with growing usage of smartphones and social networking among older people and in rural areas, the message has a potential to create panic. Surprisingly, the message has been spreading at a rapid pace as some people are unwittingly forwarding it to their friends and groups. So we need to put a full stop to it before it causes unnecessary panic among others.
We advise our users to take responsibility and educate your friends and relatives if you receive such kind of messages in any group or personal chat.
Have you come across that message over the past few days? If so, do let us know in the comments section.

If there is no agreement made with its partner manufacturers, the upcoming Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL should be the first devices to run on the all-new Android O out of the box. Android O Features

Some of the features that were previously revealed include picture-in-picturenotification channels and improved keyboard navigation. Why HTC U11 is the most exciting HTC smartphone in years

10:13:00 PM Add Comment

HTC has just unveiled its 'true flagship' smartphone of 2017 - the HTC U11. The 'U' in the U11 moniker reflects HTC's new design language and series for 2017 and the '11' denotes the fact that the smartphone is the successor to the HTC 10 - the company's 2016 flagship.
Once the pioneer of the smartphone world, HTC has been having a tough time as of late - profits have plummeted, market share has gone down drastically and the HTC brand name no longer carries the prestige it once did.
There are several reasons for the same. HTC has had a very scattered and confused smartphone line-up the last few years. The company has had a penchant of releasing iterative smartphones left right and center without any cohesive thread tying them together.
When it comes to their flagships as well, HTC has been all over the place. In 2012, they launched the HTC One, which got rave reviews and was marked as the smartphone that would catapult HTC back into the major league. It's successors however failed to sustain the momentum.
The One M8 did not move the goalpost ahead in any substantial way and the HTC One M9 arguably took things back a few notches. The HTC 10 seemed to turn things around - it was received very well critically and was a solid smartphone overall. However thanks to poor marketing, the smartphone failed to set the market on fire.
HTC followed this up with the HTC U Ultra, with which the company drastically changed their design language and abandoned the metal industrial look for an all new design. Dubbed 'liquid design', the U Ultra was made from glass and metal that boasts of an all-around symmetrical bending that reflects light differently when viewed at different angles. While many appreciated the new design, the poor space management, lack of basic flagship level features and outdated hardware let the U Ultra down.
With the U11, HTC has gone back to its roots and made a smartphone that comes with all of HTC's strong points - a unique and refreshing design, strong focus on audio quality, a light and sleek UI and  solid hardware.

A major point of criticism for past HTC smartphones has been their pricing. HTC has solved the same to with the U11. The smartphone is priced a whopping 100 dollars cheaper than the U Ultra and is close to 200 dollars cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S8. At $649, HTC has finally managed to ace the pricing of their flagship smartphone. Poor pricing has been a bane of contention for HTC smartphones for a long time and it is good to see HTC price their 2017 flagship realistically right off the bat.
On the specifications front, the smartphone does not disappoint in the slightest. It comes with Qualcomm's latest flagship processor - the Snapdragon 835 paired with 4/6GB of RAM, a 5.5-inch QuadHD display, a 3,000mAh battery, 64/128GB of internal storage and the Adreno 540 GPU. While I am yet to test the device, the specifications look mighty impressive on paper.
The HTC U11 comes with a myriad of features that make it well worth the price tag. It comes with IP67 waterproofing, HTC's new Edge technology, HTC's USonic audio tech and much more. The distinguishing attribute of the smartphone is HTC's Edge sense feature, which allows you to 'squeeze' the edges of the smartphone to initiate different functions.
Pressure sensors on the side edges on the phone are triggered whenever you 'squeeze' the handset like a ketchup bottle. HTC claims that the squeeze effect works even when you are wearing gloves or the smartphone is underwater. Currently, you can 'squeeze' the phone to take photos, evoke Google Assistant and turn on the flashlight. You can also use this feature to launch the microphone while texting to dictate words.
While it may sound gimmicky, it introduces a whole new method to interact with your phone and might be game changing once HTC introduces its 'Edge Sense' app which will allow third-party applications to use this new feature.
There are other neat features on offer too. The U11 might be one of the best smartphones for audiophiles. It comes with HTC's U Sonic Audio technology, which is a  sonar-based audio system that claims to deliver true sound that is capable of adapting to the user. It uses microhphones to hear the noises inside your ear, after which it optimised the audio by making sounds that compensate for the same.

The smartphone comes without a 3.5mm audio jack and has a single USB Type-C port for charging, data syncing and high-res audio. The U11 is also the first smartphone to come with noise-cancelling headphones out of the box. The U11 also supports HTC's BoomSound sound technology. HTC says the BoomSound is much more enhanced on the U11 with new stereo speakers. It revealed a recorded audio boost by 4db.
In addition to all that, a rather unique aspect of the U11 is the fact that the USB-C to 3.55mm adapter that HTC bundles with the device comes with an-built DAC which makes sure you get good quality sound even with earphones that use the 2.5mm jack. This is quite an amazing move by HTC and points towards their commitment to audio quality. This is also a good way to compensate users for the lack of a 3.5mm jack.
On the imaging front, the U11 is also a major upgrade over the HTC 10. The smartphone comes with a 12MP rear camera with dual-pixel auto-focus, 5-axis optical image stabilisation and a large aperture of f/1.7. On the front, there is a 16MP shooter which comes with an aperture of f/2.0 and a 150 degree wide-angle lens. The smartphone's camera has recorded a DxO Mark score of 90 points, which is the highest score ever posted by a smartphone's camera.
Here as well, HTC's commitment to audio shines through. The smartphone comes with 24-bit audio recording and an array of 4 microphones which help the device capture 360-degree sound. HTC U11 also comes with a feature called 'Acoustic Focus' wherein if you zoom in on a particular subject video recording, only the mic which is closest to the subject will record with a boost in levels.
Another unique feature of the smartphone is the fact that it comes with three assistants on board - Google Assistant, Amazon Alexa and HTC's own Sense Companion. Alexa, which works with Echo and would probably enable free calling with Echo and Echo Show owners, will be available in US, UK and Germany only.

Sense Companion works in the background to provide user-related suggestions and updates like weather in the destination city or calendar reminders. In addition, it now adds few more things like commuting advice, step count, phone performance, power-up reminders and more. To make the phone more AI-friendly, HTC has incorporated four always-on low-power microphones inside it, so it can respond to every command.
All in all, with the HTC U11, HTC has finally made a smartphone that is not only priced very aggressively, but does enough to stand out from the crowd. It comes with top of the line specifications, a strong focus on audio, promising updates to the camera and unique new features. We just hope HTC prices the smartphone competitively in India as well.

AMD is bringing its new Ryzen processors to laptops later this year

7:11:00 PM Add Comment

AMD has announced some more Ryzen processors set to hit later this year, including mobile-focused Ryzen processors for laptops, the Ryzen “Threadripper” for high-end desktop PCs, and a budget Ryzen 3 line, as noted by Liliputing.
The first Ryzen processors were released by AMD earlier this year, and were seen a major leap forward for the company’s CPU offerings that actually managed to offer meaningful competition for Intel’s popular Core i5 and i7 models when it came to both price and performance.

The mobile Ryzen line, codenamed “Raven Ridge,” will be what AMD calls an APU — an “accelerated processing unit,” which combines a CPU and an integrated GPU into a single chip (similar to how Intel CPUs offer integrated Intel HD graphics). Like the desktop Ryzen processors, the mobile CPU components will be four-core, 8-thread chips based on the same “Zen” architecture. AMD expects to see the mobile Ryzen APUs in a variety of laptop form factors, ranging from ultraportables to gaming machines in the second half of 2017.

At the other end of the spectrum is the upcoming Ryzen Threadripper, set to release in the summer. It still has the same Zen architecture as the rest of the Ryzen line, but the Threadripper will be a CPU with up to 16-cores and 32-threads — for comparison, the high end Ryzen 7 offers has eight cores and 16 threads. There’s no word on price yet for the Threadripper, but given the high-end nature of the processor, it probably won’t be cheap.

Lastly, AMD confirmed that the budget Ryzen 3 processors are still planned for later in 2017. The Ryzen 3 is meant to fill in the lower end of the product lineup, and compete with Intel’s Core i3 chips — much as the Ryzen 5 is meant to compete with Intel’s Core i5 models, and the Ryzen 7 to compete with Core i7 processors.
