HTC Nexus M1 surfaces on Geekbench; rumored specs include Android Nougat 7.0 and 4GB of RAM

Which smartphone manufacturer has produced the most Nexus handsets? If you guessed Samsung, you are absolutely... incorrect. Actually, LG has produced a trio of Nexus phones with the Nexus 4Nexus 5 and Nexus 5X Samsung has manufactured two, theNexus S and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Motorola, Huawei and HTC have produced one model each.

If rumors about the two new Nexus models coming from HTC this year are true, the company will finish the year with three Nexus phones, good enough to tie LG at the top. And that doesn't include the Nexus 9 tablet, also made by HTC. The two new HTC Nexus phones include the HTC Nexus S1 carrying a 5-inch display, and the HTC Nexus M1 with a 5.5-inch screen.

Yesterday, we passed along to you some rumored specs for the HTC Nexus M1 that came from China's Weibo micro-blogging site. This morning, we have some more information about the phone thanks to its visit to the Geekbench benchmark site. Combined with the latest speculation, the Nexus M1 is expected to be powered by Android Nougat 7.0.1. It will feature a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a 1440 x 2560 resolution. The Snapdragon 820 SoC is said to be under the hood with a quad-core CPU and the Adreno 530 GPU.

A 12MP camera should adorn the back of the unit, while an 8MP camera will be found on front to shoot selfies and handle video chats. A rear-mounted fingerprint scanner will be included with the handset, which will have 4GB of RAM and 32GB/128GB of native memory. Two speaker grilles are expected on the bottom of the handset, along with a Type-C port.

The single-core Geekbench score was 2084, while the multi-core tally came to 4969. HTC is rumored to begin shipping the new Nexus models this September. Pricing is unknown for now.
