OnePlus 5 Camera, Music, and Connectivity

The image on the OnePlus official Facebook page shows a Dual lens Primary camera which is expected to be much more refined than the 16MP rear camera on the OnePlus 3T. The front camera shall also boast a similar secondary camera as the 3T. According to official statements, the OnePlus 5 will have a 3.5mm earphone jack and is also expected to have a USB type C connectivity.

Look and Feel

The OnePlus 5 that is revealed in the leaked image from Android Police and also the image that is put up on OnePlus official Facebook page showcases a dual lens camera in a metal body.
The placement of lock button on the right and volume rockers to the left of the screen along with a ‘Profile’ button right above the volume controls. Rumors suggest the OnePlus 5 will have more color choices apart from the Gray and Black colors on the OnePlus 3T.

Expected Price

According to rumours, the OnePlus 5 will be priced at Rs. 32,999 for the 6GB RAM and64GB model and Rs. 37,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. The pricing of the 6GB model is eerily close to the 3T and might be an encouragement to those who are looking for to buy the OnePlus 3T to go ahead for the OnePlus 5.

Official statement:

A statement from OnePlus CEO Pete Lau on the Official forum has also pointed towards certain performance and response based improvements in the OnePlus 5.
“One of the main areas we wanted to improve was touch latency. Our engineers tested why scrolling occasionally differed between phones. There wasn’t a lot of precedent for them to work with – no benchmarks, no industry case studies to learn from. So we used a special high-speed camera to track screen movements and measure input speeds. As a result, apps respond quickly to your touch for a seamless user experience.
We also wanted to improve the overall feeling of smoothness. To achieve this, our engineers added a feature to OxygenOS to better manage the way your apps perform. The apps you use most are ready to go when you turn on the OnePlus 5. Apps you rarely use are deprioritized and kept from affecting performance.”

Conclusion

Keeping all the buzz, rumors and also the official statements in mind, OnePlus 5 sounds like a robust performance-dedicated device that will set new benchmarks for the OnePlus family. The improvements that are pointed out by the officials and the tweaks in OxygenOS may make the OnePlus 5 a sweet treat for the fans.
